With great power comes great responsibility. Isn’t this also true for senior executives and leaders in companies today?

I’m always been a fan of Spider-man and, till today, still amazed by his nimbleness when he confronted the dangers lurking around the neighborhood. That’s what they call him, “he’s your friendly neighborhood hero.” And I definitely think that our own “neighborhood” can develop more of such nimble heroes, especially when we are coexisting with more machines in a disruptive world today.

So, what are some leadership characteristics we can learn from Spidey?

Your friendly neighborhood Spider-man. With the exponential rise of machines in this era, human connections axiomatically become more critical. The ability to build lasting relationships starts with a smile. Peter Parker is always smiling and displaying his lasting sense of humor despite the sadden events happening along his life ever since he was a teen. The power of being able to flash your teeth genuinely and maintaining composure, in spite of mounting pressures and threatening changes, proved the positivity a great leader usually exude. “When you can’t control what’s happening, challenge yourself to control the way you respond to what’s happening. That’s where your power is.” — unknown.
