Two Sides of Change

While many of us are still pacing along the boulevard of past successes and monolithic accolades, the once flamboyant sky has took a turn for something subtly different, a scene so unusually familiar.

As we passed by busy streets and avenues, we crossed the border of a new industry — the Industry 4.0. Without much realization how easy that was, our usual routine engulfed us channeling our energies toward business as usual, as usual. It was when we look up again that we realize the unusually familiar sky is becoming progressively unfamiliar. Things that weren’t there in the past flew by in large numbers. Events we thought could never happen made possible. The surrounding harmonized with the changes in the environment. It is then that we realize we are threatened by the change.

“Equilibrium is the precursor to death.” A quote I borrowed from the book “Surfing the edge of chaos”. While we are striving to achieve balance between our people, processes and networks, and our hard work has paid off, we have reached a state of stability. This sense of stability gave us assurance of control and success, which is a perfect platform for impending status quo. “Do not rock the boat when it’s sailing smoothly!” shouted the Captain. The last I heard about the sailors and the Captain after the storm, they have abandoned ship.
